Once upon a time, in 2002, South Korean development studios released a little game known as Ragnarok Online, and a legacy was born that continues to grow. Really, really robust. There have been many successful derivatives of this flagship, including Ragnarok X: Next Generation, which managed to do just that both the App Store and Google Play at the top during the launch week.
Over 25 million players have joined since launch, which would normally be very impressive, but considering they’re only just celebrating the half-year mark, it’s astounding. If you haven’t played before, you should consider getting involved now as ROX celebrates this milestone in style.
Larger level cap for more fun
There are many headlines we could start with, but I think the modern tier cap might be the most intriguing. World level and character base level can now reach 90, and with main, legendary and side quests opening at the same time, you’ll get there without even realizing it. What’s more, you can also get level 90 gear for a real power boost.
Once you have this modern gear, go to a helpful NPC who can upgrade it to level 90. Your refinement level also increases, reaching level 13. Once your refinement reaches 8, you will unlock the refinement blessing. Depending on your blessing level, you will unlock improved attributes, with a guaranteed upgrade when the blessing is full. Don’t worry if you have previously refined to level 8 or higher as Kafra Corporation will reward you for your efforts.
During your adventures in the modern Glast Heim area, you will be able to encounter living scenes whose level and production recipes have been upgraded to level 9. So make sure to complete the missions and quickly earn the Reputation Exploration Suit. This requires a lot of different levels of leveling, so let’s look at something simpler: combat.
New monsters to hunt and loot
You can encounter modern monsters for a chance to obtain exclusive elite cards, orange-quality weapons, headgear, and more if you hunt down the right prey. For example, the modern instance boss, the Dark Lord, will drop an elite dungeon-exclusive card that provides an 8% escalate in maximum HP, a 7% reduction in final physical and magical damage in competitions, and a 50% escalate in Blind RES.
If you need aid, you can recruit stimulating modern pets, including Phreeoni. This little beast devours any enemy in front of it, whether it’s a monster or an enemy player, which is hilarious. Speaking of which, if you prefer your enemy to be another player, start farming bosses at level 90. Chances are this will be PvP gear, a first for ROX, which is frosty.
Celebration events and anime icons
Later this month, America will celebrate Thanksgiving, and thanks to ROX, it will be a holiday for all of us. By logging in and completing missions, you’ll earn Thanksgiving Turkey Feathers. Once you’ve grabbed a handful, head over to the event page to be entered into a drawing to win over $1 million in prizes including diamonds, an iPhone 17, and an iPad Mini.
Anime fans can also rejoice as the renowned Japanese anime IP will be coming to ROX. There will be plenty of MVPs to earn with circumscribed gold cards, and a crossover clothing gacha to collect. You can even team up with friends and try to survive 10 rounds with the king of boxing, Ken-Oh. If you’re dedicated, you can even master Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken by collecting all the circumscribed edition cards.
Season 2 of War of the Chosen will begin with the introduction of a modern strategic point, the Pillars. You can now return to the battlefield in 10 seconds for even more fun. The developer is challenging at work on the December Snow Festival, with circumscribed edition mounts and fashion up for grabs, and as we know, the holidays are for friends.
