In real life, it is very essential to have regular, vigorous bowel movements. This is usually a little less essential for video game characters, with the exception of Travis Touchdown. But in Metaphor: ReFantazio, it turns out that using the bathroom regularly will give you strength if you pay attention to when you do it.
Initially shared by @UltimaShadowX on X/Twitter, using the restroom in Metaphor can give you a enduring +1 boost to your character’s happiness if you do it on a specific day. This particular day is “Idlesday” in the game’s calendar, which occurs every fifth day. On any day of idleness, you can go to the bathroom on your Gauntlet Runner (effectively your home base throughout the game) and check the toilet inside to exploit it. This will raise your statistics.
In Metaphor, if you take a shit in Gauntlet Runner on a day divisible by 5, you’ll get a free boost to your happiness stats.
An absolute fucking masterpiece. pic.twitter.com/AH1RKRkGSD— ⚠️ Attention ⚠️ Ultima (@UltimaShadowX) October 15, 2024
Unfortunately, you don’t get anything for using the bathroom on any other day of the week (though you can do it if you feel moved to do so). You can also gain experience by taking a shower, and bath salts, which you will acquire a bit later in the game, will allow you to raise your stats by taking a bath. Atlus really, really wants its players to embrace chastity!
There are plenty of other things you can do regularly on Gauntlet Runner to improve, some of which we’ve covered in our base unlocking guide.
It’s no wonder players find such hilarious details in Metaphor: ReFantazio. It’s an amazing game. We gave it a rating of 9/10, stating that it “not only sends a powerful message through its political drama, but becomes a beautiful expression of the true impact that storytelling can have on all of us.”
