Vampire Survivors shows no signs of slowing down at the moment, and a fresh update post teases a whole lot of content to come.
Indie games are becoming increasingly occasional these days and achieve ridiculous, genre-defining success, but Vampire Survivors is certainly one. After receiving its full release in 2022, it received tons of updates, including a Castlevania crossover, and in a fresh one Steam postdeveloper poncle shared his plans for the coming year. From the outset, the plan is to roll out the cross-save feature “across platforms” soon, potentially with the next content patch, 1.13, although Poncle noted that this is intended but not guaranteed. What’s more, he hopes to see an online co-op mode coming this year as well, but again, there are no guarantees yet.

Poncle also talked about his live-action film that Story Kitchen is working on, noting that they are still working on it together, but “as we mentioned last year, instead of standing idly by and doing things for the sake of doing them, we’ve preferred to wait until they find partners who they would find it appropriate, especially because making anything out of VS that isn’t a video game requires good ideas, creativity, and that weird knowledge of the game, and that’s a very hard three to get 100% right. Poncle also joked, saying that he should be able to “reveal some other stuff related to various media” that he is working on, whatever that means.
In terms of content updates, poncle is focusing on free updates this year, but they should be bigger even if they won’t be released as often. “There are also more adventures in the works,” he explains, continuing, “including one for Foscari Tides. We are also considering an Ode to Castlevania Adventure as we have some ideas to make it look different from the standard expansion.” Paid DLC hasn’t been completely eliminated, but with Castlevania being so huge, it’s “a little difficult to produce that much content again at the same or lower price and in a reasonable amount of time.”
Finally, the post ended with another tongue-in-cheek announcement that the developer has “some non-Vampire Survivor-related but totally relevant things to talk about this year, but all I can say right now is: stay tuned.” We’re still cooking, but 2025 is shaping up to be our biggest, most messy, surprising and most imaginative year ever!” Looks like you’ll just have to wait and see what he has planned!
