Pocket Pokémon Trading Card Game players can now take part in another event, and this puts player vs. player battles at the forefront.
Genetic Apex Emblem Event 1 starts today, November 7, and ends on November 28. Creators Inc. Creators explained that emblem events will allow players to challenge other players with emblems, Shinedust, and other items in lane.
There will be four levels of emblems that can be displayed on a player’s profile: a participation emblem for one win, a bronze emblem for five wins, a silver emblem for 25 wins, and a gold emblem for 45 wins.
Players must select a specific event battle mode to gain victories in the event total, although only the usual 15 experience points are awarded per victory. Event missions have also been added to Pokémon TCG Pocket, allowing players to earn Shinedust and Hourglass Packs for completing event battles.
This first emblem event isn’t a full competitive mode for Pokémon TCG Pocket, but it’s certainly a step in that direction. This will also be the first real test of the competition as to which decks are the best, with both ex Mewtwo and ex Charizard dominating so far.
Pokémon TCG Pocket launched in October as a streamlined, digital version of the beloved card game. Players open packs, collect cards, build decks and battle others; a elementary formula that has already proven popular, considering it grossed $12 million in four days.
Perhaps this is because without spending money, it will take almost two years to collect all the cards in the first set. Fortunately, this includes all the special hidden cards (including the super secret Mew), and it takes much less time to collect the regular set.
