Pokémon Go Sewaddle Community Day Guide

Published:

Pokémon Go has Sewaddle Community Day event enabled Saturday, October 5, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m in your local time.

As expected for a Community Day event, Sewaddle will appear in huge numbers with a good chance of looking shiny. There are also some other bonuses and benefits which we have listed below.

How to catch a shiny Sewaddle?

According to senior research conducted on the now defunct website The Silph Road (via Return machine), Shiny ratios in Community Days are around 1 in 24, which means that if you play for the entire three hours, you should find quite a few shiny Pokémon.

If you’re brief on time or Poké Balls, you can throw incense and then quickly tap each Sewaddle to check for any shiny ones, running away from any that aren’t shiny. It’s worth noting that any Sewaddle you’ve already tapped will be facing where your player is standing, so this should aid identify which ones you may have already checked.

What Community Day move does Sewaddle Evolution learn?

If you evolve Swadloon into Leavanny from 14:00 to 22:00 local time, he will learn brisk movement Shadow Claw.

If you miss its evolution during this period, you’ll likely be able to evolve it during the Community Day weekend event in December to obtain Shadow Claw. If you don’t want to wait, you can exploit Elite TM to make your move.

How does Leavanny fare in the meta?

Leavanny is a “just OK” attacking bug type for PvE content, but even with its best moveset (Bug Bite and X-Scissor) it doesn’t beat Heracross, Pinsir, or higher investment options like Pheromosa and Genesect ( predictably).

Leavanny is also not very useful in PvP. While the addition of Shadow Claw to his moveset is novel, it doesn’t significantly improve his rankings or do anything groundbreaking.

How to make the most of Sewaddle Community Day?

The following bonuses will be busy during Sewaddle Community Day:

  • 1/4 hatching distance for eggs placed in incubators during the event
  • Double candy for catching Pokémon
  • Double chance for Trainers at level 31+ to earn XL Candy for catching Pokémon
  • The incense lasts three hours
  • Bait modules last three hours
  • Use special photo bombs when taking photos
  • One additional special transaction
  • Stardust cost halved when trading

That said, you should definitely put the eggs in the incubators, airy some incense, and try to get the mighty Sewaddle.

If you can Mega Evolve a Venusaur, Beedrill, Pinsir, Scizor, Heracross, Sceptile, or Abomasnow, you will receive additional Sewaddle Candies for each one you catch. Using Primal Reverse on Kyogre or Groudon will also work.

Additionally, Niantic continues to host special 4-star raids from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, where once the raid is cleared, the Swadloon Sewaddle will appear within a 300-meter radius around the gym for 30 minutes. These raids cannot be conducted remotely. If simply increasing the spawn from 2-5 p.m. doesn’t get you the Sewaddle you wanted, you can try raiding for another chance.
