Critical Role will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year, and it seems like the next huge step into podcasting will be video games.
It was no surprise that something like Critical Role, a Dungeons & Dragons podcast featuring beloved voice actors, would be such a success. People love DnD, and who better to take part in the game than a group of voice actors? Over the years, there have been many world expansions, all kinds of tie-ins, and in 2022 it even got an animated adaptation. But what next? Well, according to the latest Rolling Stone cast profile, apparently video games! Laura Bailey, who you’ll also hear in games like Marvel’s Spider-Man, Nier, and the Uncharted series, shared on the profile that the team has been “talking about making a video game since we started playing together.”

Fellow cast member Travis Willingham, best known for roles in shows such as Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Sonic the Hedgehog, also noted that he “would say it’s an active pursuit on our part.” And hopefully we’ll have something really exhilarating to share, maybe at the end of the year, maybe at the beginning of 2025, just in time for our 10th anniversary, but it’s definitely been on our minds.
“The cooperation we established with various partners was just a test for us to see what it felt like. You know, there’s a lot of upheaval in the interactive space right now. We’ve seen studios try to survive these pressures and figure out how we can fit into this larger ecosystem.
There’s not much time left until the end of the year, but as Willingham said, it could be early 2025, and considering the show’s anniversary is in March, they have plenty of time. Whatever game comes out, I’m sure it will become as popular as the rest.
