Many fresh DCU projects haven’t seen much updates in a while, but DC Studios co-head James Gunn wants you to know that doesn’t mean they’ve been canceled.
So far, since the fresh DCU was announced a few years ago, the projects we’ve heard about the most are Gunn’s Superman movie, the Supergirl movie, the Lanterns show, Peacemaker season 2, and Creature Commandos, the first project in the revamped cinematic universe, which will premiere later this year year. However, since the reveal of the fresh DCU, a whole slew of projects have been announced that haven’t seen much updates, such as Swamp Thing, which will be directed by Logan director James Mangold, and the Batman film The Brave and Bold, which for some reason will be directed by Andy Muschietti of The Flash (we attribute that to Warner Bros., Andy).

Since all comic book fans seem to have been buying dictionaries without the word “patience”, some fans are worried about the lack of updates on certain projects and rumors without very reliable sources. So Gunn, as he seems to be doing regularly these days, agreed Threads to address some of these concerns, such as when one fan asked if Swamp Thing had been canceled and the creator simply replied, “No. What made you think like that?”
Another fan then asked about the live-action Teen Titans movie work reportedly began earlier this yearwas in pre-production, to which Gunn did not respond directly. But after the same fan said that Production Weekly, a site that focuses on the stages various films are at, reported that Teen Titans was in pre-production, Gunn explained: “Production Weekly very, very often gets it completely wrong . I have no idea where they get their information from.”
The DCU co-founder was also asked about The Authority and whether it was in pre-production or dormant, to which Gunn bluntly explained: “Those aren’t the only two options. Some scripts are IN DEVELOPMENT, either looking for writers or in development. written or rewritten, once the scripts are completed and ready to go, they are given the green airy and begin PRODUCTION.
And just to make it clear that everything is fine, when another fan asked Gunn (gosh, they ask a lot of questions) if everything else was in the works, he simply replied, “Yes.” So there you have it – stop worrying about all those movies and TV shows and do something else.
