“Please re-release Concord,” demands modern PlayStation petition, citing “we’ve all been busy this week”

Yes, that’s a fact. Following the news that Concord wouldn’t be around for long, a Change.org petition to re-release the game popped up, arguing that people were simply too busy to play when it launched last month.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Sony and Firewalk Studios announced on September 4 that Concord would be shutting down on September 6 after a rocky launch in which the game failed to attract as much of a player base as its major players had hoped. Players who purchased the game on PS5 and PC before the sale ended will receive a full refund. The decision made the game a phenomenon among would-be collectibles retailers.

Now it’s filtered down to the ranks of people who remember all the weird stuff that happened around the release of the so-bad-it’s-good meme Morbius , which I’m reliably told was a movie, not just a collection of jokes. After a few posts about the edit on social media the infamous Change.org petition from 2022 calling for the film to return to theaters, now there’s a similar one for Concord.

“We’ve all been busy this week – please re-release Concord” is both the title and the only request this petitionstarted just yesterday, September 4, by a Twitter user named Vora Sumi. “Concord, the hero shooter from Sony’s Firewalk Studios, will be shutting down on September 9; just 3 weeks after its release,” they write, “I truly believe the game has a chance and should be re-released!!!”

It’s not as cute and witty as the ad that accompanied the Morbius petition, but they deserve points for trying, even if they got a pretty vital detail wrong in a sort of timeline stretch — the cutoff date is September 6th, so if anything, they underestimated the urgency of the matter, which they’re surely trying to accomplish for reasons that don’t involve the phrase “shit and giggles.”

As of writing, the petition already has 25 signatures, just 25 tiny of its current goal of 50. One of those people left a comment explaining why they were signing up. “I’ve been too busy to play Overwatch or watch the latest Guardians of the Galaxy,” wrote a user named John Marstall, who I’m assuming isn’t a certain cowboy’s evil twin. “And then I was too busy to try Concord. I might be busy again, but it’s worth a shot.”

I don’t know about you, but I expect the Morbius petition to reach 32,000 signatures at any moment.

That’s not the only strange thing to happen to the ill-fated PlayStation hero shooter since its closure was announced, as some players have taken to killing off their characters as early as possible at the start of the game in order to earn the platinum trophy before the game disappears into the sunset.
