Surprise, people who remember the overdue 90s or are somehow really passionate about the time when they were just a twinkle in their father’s eye or an actual fetus, PlayStation has revealed the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection. This is your chance to try and own a version of the retro-lacquered base PS5 or PS5 Pro that everyone considers a bit costly, plus some cold accessories/items for it.
If you do buy it when it launches on November 21st – with pre-orders starting on September 26th – you’ll need to play the rather captivating PlayStation 30th Anniversary playlist the entire time you’re using your novel and retro hardware. Come on, Livin’ La Vida Loca awaits. I don’t make the rules.

“These new limited edition designs are a tribute to 30 amazing years of gaming, a journey made possible by the passion and support of our fans and talented game creators,” PlayStation wrote in a statement. blog about the collection: “Reminiscent of the first PlayStation console that was released on December 3, 1994, this limited edition takes the original PlayStation color design and integrates it with the latest PS5 hardware lineup.”
There are two main bundles available for these upgraded pieces of hardware, which will be sold in “very limited numbers”: one centers around the regular PS5 digital console, while the other includes the PS5 Pro console. Both bundles take a step back in time with a slick of gray paint and classic PlayStation logos to remind you of what you’ve lost over the years, as well as some nicely engraved elements to reinforce that “I bought a collectible” feeling.
Both bundles include a vertical stand and a matching DualSense controller or DualSense Edge controller and DualSense charging station, but do not include a disc drive, as it must be purchased separately. You will also receive the following collectibles:
- Original PlayStation Controller Cable Connector Housing
- Four PlayStation Shapes cable ties
- Limited Edition PlayStation Poster (1 of 30 possible designs)
Only 12,300 units of the retro-ified PS5 Pro will be sold worldwide, in case you didn’t think this set was collectible enough, as each one has “limited edition numbers” etched into it, representing the “month and release date of the first PlayStation console”. Prices for these things have yet to be confirmed, but I’d wager they’ll cost more than £5/$5.
