Idle City Builder by Playnest won this year’s Pocket Gamer Helsinki last month! The city developer blew the judges away with its polished and extensive list of features that Playnest brought to this game in a hyper-casual style. Not only was the pitch itself incredibly forceful, but it was also something fun and engaging in its own right.

Idle City Builder has a basic concept; It’s a city building game with elegant graphics where you have to build, manage resources, expand your territory and create a blossoming empire. Your city will start out miniature and slowly grow as you research and add recent buildings – or upgrades – to what you create. Eventually you can claim most of the land, wanting to explore and discover more so you can continue to build your empire.

Everything seems very polished, so it’s no wonder it was released. You can start taking advantage of the country’s national resources now and build your city however you want. There are several different themes you can apply to create your own custom villager skins and worlds, which our judges were very impressed with.

Idle City Builder is now available on Android and iOS; providing a fun, semi-idle experience for those who enjoy the genre and are looking for something recent to play with. It’s designed for players of all skill levels, so you can play Idle City Builder as a relaxing pastime or as something more challenging, depending on your own preferences and play style. It’s no wonder he placed so well in our latest pitching competition, so check it out if you’re interested.
