Planning to buy Beetlejuice 2 tickets online? Why not try through… Roblox?

For the first time ever on the online gaming platform, Roblox is teaming up with Warner Bros. to let you, um, buy tickets to see Beetlejuice 2.

I’d say it’s a pretty safe and sound bet that the main way to buy movie tickets these days is online. It’s safer, faster, and means you can guarantee yourself the seat you want. But have you ever thought to yourself, “Man, I wish it was a little less inconvenient for me to buy these tickets through some video game, maybe online, where I could experience unique game worlds?” Well, boy, does Roblox have a solution for you! Partnering with Warner Bros., Roblox has created one of its most decidedly non-games, Beetlejuice Escape from the Underworlda “we promise these aren’t games” style game where you can meet the movie’s characters in order to – predictably – escape from the afterlife.

“When visitors enter Beetlejuice Escape the Afterlife on Roblox, they are immediately transported to The Afterlife Lobby — a spooky world that combines familiar locations from the original Beetlejuice movie with new scenes and experiences from the highly anticipated sequel,” Roblox shared in a statement. “From the lobby, fans can enter one of three immersive worlds where they must escape from ghouls and rescue beloved characters like Delia and Lydia, as well as new characters like Astrid. They’ll visit The Waiting Room, see Shrinkers (aka Shrunken Head Guy) and his friends, and even explore Adam’s model of Connecticut’s Winter River during his rescue journeys.”

Also in the Afterlife Lobby, players can “walk up and purchase a ticket right during the experience to watch the movie,” and those who do so will receive an exclusive “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” avatar item. You must be 13 to purchase a ticket, but you can still play through the experience even if you are under that age.

Whether or not this will work, we’ll have to wait and see, but it shows how many large companies are still interested in pushing this whole metaverse idea forward, even if it’s really easier to just buy a ticket the normal way.
