Phosmophobia dev Kinetic Games has a lot to celebrate right now. The console version of the four-player cooperative horror game hit consoles at the end of October, and just over a month later it had already sold over a million copies.

This number of units includes PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2 and Xbox Series X|S, all of which released an Early Access version of the game on October 29, 2024. It has also been over four years since Phosmophobia first appeared on PC. Adding these numbers brings the cumulative sales to 22 million.

Kinetic Games CEO and Head of Development, Daniel Knight, commented on the achievement in a press release. “This incredible achievement is only possible because of our wonderful, supportive and engaged community,” he said. Knight added that this milestone is “the best Christmas present we could have ever dreamed of.”

Reviews for Phosmophobia continue to remain in the “Overwhelmingly Positive” zone on Steam, where the horror game once peaked at 112,241 players. It has been averaging over 21,000 players per day over the last 30 days, thanks in vast part to continued support from developers. Latest large update, Crimson Eyelaunched in October with modern events, improved physics and more.

For those who want to be scared, Phosmophobia supports cross-play, allowing you to collaborate with others on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms.
