Hello, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.
This is a chance for you to see what various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play this weekend, and will hopefully give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not there so you can keep up to date with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a up-to-date game to play.

For the first time I can confirm that I will be playing something really up-to-date this week! Or at least I’m trying, and that’s because after my brief conversation with Will on the latest Pocket Gamer podcast, I decided to play Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus thanks to his re-evaluation of the game.
I’ve been a huge fan of Warhammer since I was a kid, so the opportunity to play a proper strategy game (sorry, Warpforge) on my phone based on the game is certainly tempting. I’ll just have to see how it does, but with some of my favorite factions already here, if it does well, I’ll probably find it challenging to put it down.

I thought I’d had enough after last week and was starting to feel like a broken record, but I’ll play Honkai: Star Rail again! The recent leak of the Fugue kit looks like she would be a fantastic addition to my Firefly team. Now I’m not sure if I’ll outclass Ruan Mei as a support, but I definitely prefer a more offensive support.
Also, I felt the need to return to Potion Permission. It’s a fun little RPG where you can gather resources and craft all sorts of alchemical goodness. You also have a canine companion whom I named Alchemutt, and that amuses me to no end. Simple pleasures.

My Balatro-when-I-sit-still-for-five-minutes mission continues. I’ve already finished five decks and only have one more blank deck left to finish to get a lot done.
Plus, I have a few games I’ve put off that I want to get back to, although that may not be possible given the combined triple threat of refereeing for IGF, Yakuza (Like a Dragon) TV series starting on Prime, Dragon Age Veilguard and game fairs. Phew.

This weekend I plan to spend some time trying out the recently released Grimguard tactic in Outerdawn. It’s something I’ve been looking forward to for some time now. I enjoy a good turn-based RPG, especially on mobile devices. Anything that happens in real time carries the risk of pressing the wrong virtual button with your thumb. I also love the art style of Grimguard Tactics. In my games, I have always preferred darkness and macabre to sunshine and rainbows.
Meanwhile, I continued to enjoy both Pocket Necromancer and Phobies. The latter is now part of my daily rotation. Working on the many matches I play in is a constant source of puzzles, which I enjoy. Now say it quietly, but I think I’m feeling better. The win-loss ratio hasn’t tipped in my favor yet, although it’s getting closer.

Well, it’s another weekend and guess what that means?! Events in Pokemon Go. This time, several Gigantamax battles have been prepared, in each of which up to forty players can take part. I plan to organize many events related to these battles in my city. Additionally, I hope to complete all unlocks in Neopets: Faerie Fragment to have all the items in my Neopets account. 500 levels are required to complete one of the unlocked levels, so beating the entire game takes some time.

I have a up-to-date task for this weekend, and that is to become emperor. Well, not literally, in Age of Empires Mobile. I probably wouldn’t call myself an emperor, but rather an all-powerful god. I wouldn’t be too far away, right?
I think everyone has played or at least heard of Age of Empires, and my favorite game was AoE II. Now I’m excited to dive into the mobile version since I only had time to play after the tutorial.
All in all, the summation of this weekend for me is playing Age of Empires Mobile and playing Cookie Run Kingdom every day.

After playing games idle and with in-game purchases for a while, I’m trying to find games with a similar style that actually allow you to play and progress without forcing you to buy. Mob Control was a nice surprise and after revisiting Warhammer 40K: Tacticus I was pleasantly surprised there as well. There’s more to do and more freedom to progress in this game compared to other games, so I’m curious how far I can go before I feel stuck.
I think the contender for fastest paywall might go to Plants Vs. Zombies 2. They knew how excited we were about this game and then let us down by how quickly it made winning impossible – but Plants Vs. Zombies 3 which was previously released in a few select countries and is annoying. If I can’t somehow gain access, I’ll see if 2 still causes problems.

she’s recovering from outpatient surgery for lateral epicondylitis, which sounds fancy but actually just means she was pushing her buttons too much.

I have been addicted to Marvel SNAP for over a year now. I spent quite a bit of money on it, but echoing Will’s comment, I love how you can progress without having to buy cards. I’m also a huge geek and have a gentle spot for comic book characters, so building a deck of my favorite superheroes is a real thrill.
After months spent favoring the “destruction” deck archetype (using Deadpool, Wolverine, Carnage, Death, and so on, with Arnim Zola for added spice), I finally discovered the power of Silver Surfer. Oh my days, this is so powerful. As long as you play a few power 3 cards early in the game (Brood is a good choice since you get 3 for 1), Silver Surfer combined with Wong and Mystique just amps up and amps up these locations.
For the past few weeks, the game has had a High Tension event that I’ve been really enjoying. It condensed the basic rules of Marvel SNAP into a three-round, high-energy, fast-paced game. This meant I couldn’t play my Magik card as the format prevented anything that would prolong the endgame, but I replaced it with Bishop so – if I could have played him earlier – I would rack up points by playing the rest. Unfortunately, the High Voltage event ended on Thursday with the October balance update, so I’m back to standard gameplay this weekend. But I’m still addicted to it, so all is well and I can’t wait to release my newest Silver Surfer build in the main game.
If I form an Alliance, will anyone want to join it?
