Oxs Storm G2 review

Published:

Being a guy to whom all my friends (and relatives) come to technical advice, for some time I had an eye on a really great budget headphone headphone set. Lesson below $ 100, Oxs Storm G2 will nails it both in appearance and price, but I was careful if these drivers with a full 50 mm range could match the rest of this headset. Unfortunately, they can’t.

Don’t get me wrong, they are not terrible. There is everything you are looking for in a sound landscape. You can hear funds and ups and feel bass. It’s really only in one EQ mode, but we’ll get to it later.

Initially, I tested this headphone set with The Last of Us Part I and Gustavo Santaolalla on the guitar soundtrack of hits as much as always, providing clear means and clear ups.

The opening scene, with distant sirens, barking dogs and chaos rising just above the head, works well in the spatial sound of the headset 7.1. However, this sound is not as all -encompassing as I was hoping. There is nothing huge in the mix, but there is a slight empty character. This helps partially, because the last of us soundtrack is relatively infrequent.

In this configuration there are three EQ modes and this is almost the whole adaptation that you will receive as an Audio Oxs, the company’s music application does not support the G2 storm. If you don’t like eq, demanding happiness.

Starting from the game mode, the bass is largely cut out of the mixture, and all this was based on medium and ups. This is of course purposeful. If you want to hear the steps or ping of pomegranate before it is thrown in your direction, it effectively strengthens these almost imperceptible movements. It works as intended, but as a result the sound suffers.

The musical mode is a little better, focusing on a more sustainable sound. Bass, Mids and Highs have almost equal attention. In “At Doom’s Gate” by Mick Gordon from the DOOM 2016 soundtrack, Splashy Synth, accompanying drums, does not sound good, and I found the same problem in the half of the feet of the foot Delta Sleep.

The sound has a blur that I did not find in other headphone sets that I had to vouch. It happened mainly in music, which is heavier and focuses on MIDS, but not only, because the rhythmic impact of the soundtrack Bastion had the same blurred. These overcast funds are of course quite common in budget game headphones, but maybe this is perhaps the most articulate sign of the price of the G2 storm.

This headset is the best when it is converted into EQ spatial sound mode and almost the only way I ever advise you to operate.

The previous two modes are not only more empty feeling, but also seem a bit quieter, which makes the built -in EQ button seem a bit contrary to intuition, taking into account that you will immediately have to spoil the volume settings.

A lush Gothic orchestra that shines when you take your first bite in Vampir, works well in spatial sound mode, mainly because it copes well with offering the right sound landscape. The spatial sound is not only louder and more bass, the whole sound seems a bit more full. Even at the best edition, the sound has a clear but empty character.

The spatial sound mode can be a slightly double -edged sword in the G2 storm. In my first Counter-Strike 2 game, being one of those annoying guys who almost exclusively like sniper rifles in games, AWP thunder caused me to jump and dropped on the ground. This EQ mode really approaches the bass, which works in most cases, but addictive first -person shooters can be almost too much.

Sounds, just like those in Whirling-In-Ins Power, 8 am, from the disco Elysium soundtrack, perhaps the place where the headphone set is the best. When it does not focus too much on one part of the mixture, and instead everything is energetic and diverse, decent insulation of noise from its convenient Earpad set can make everything seem really addictive.

This addictive sound helps a really comfortable fit. It is quite featherlight, with just over 250 g, although the power of the clamp on the pads is a bit feeble. It will not get off your head with a slight head blow (believe me, I tried), but it seems that yes, which is less likely to me.

Listen to the microphone test below:

The quality of workmanship and design are also quite solid in the price. The headband at the top reminds me of Hyperx Cloud Alpha, made of protein leather with a red thread, and this is connected to ear by a forceful aluminum frame. Self -spascus themselves seem a bit economical, with a plastic frame and a little RGB.

It is RGB that also reduces 40 hours of battery life to just over 20, so in most cases I recommend turning it off and just play without this nice lighting on the side. It is unlikely that many notice, unless you regularly turn their heads to people with the headphone set on.

If you plan to be sociable with this headphone set, the attached jumper microphone sounds surprisingly good at the price, and the headphone set even has a spare microphone built into the earmuffs when you can’t bother connecting the boom microphone. The silencing button just below the EQ button and the headphone set informs you about the sound after clicking, but only when you are in connection or game. You can’t tranquil down in advance because you don’t know when you’re muted.

Buy if …

You want a economical and cheerful wireless headphone set: Due to the price, Oxs Storm G2 does not make any glaring errors, which is not bad for choosing the budget.

You play a lot for many players: Good battery life, clear emphasis on steps in the game mode, and a great microphone make it a good choice for many players.

Do not buy if …

The sound is quite essential to you: This game headset performs its task in the sound section. You can clearly hear steps in games, and the music is clear enough to understand. However, the sound is simply a bit empty and probably the worst part of what otherwise is a decent headset.

You can afford higher: In the case of a budget headphone set it is quite good, although I would choose Corsair HS55 Wireless for 30 USD more, and Inzone H5 for 70 USD more.

Interestingly, black and white variants have several unique differences. My white was delivered with two USB-C cables, while Black got a USB-C and AUX cable. In addition, the white model receiver has a built-in USB-C receiver, which you then take and fall. Black has a USB port and a USB-C port on two separate pages of the same receiver. Mostly I would say that Black has better accessories.

This double microphone system is great when this headphone set is also connected to the phone, which can easily do via Bluetooth or a good chord “OL AUX (assuming that the phone has not been resigned from the 3.5 mm socket). In the case of a low delay game, the attached 2.4 GHz key can connect via the handy USB-C and USB connector, hidden in an intelligent but ugly section in Dongle itself. It cannot support double connectivity because you need to choose Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz on a headphone mug, but this is a fairly solid connection.

Oxs Storm G2 is not an inexpensive versatile, which I would recommend to everyone with a limited budget, but it does enough to be quite solid. The sound becomes tortured, especially in half, and the lack of many EQ controls means that you must be fine with what is on offer. However, a 40-hour headset for games with a solid microphone may be enough for many, especially if you need something cheap to break away from the early morning hours with several friends to discord.
