Starry Studio and NetEase Games’ Once Human has reached a major player count milestone and is celebrating by revealing its first major update.
The free-to-play open-world survival shooter has soared to fame, surpassing 230,000 players on Steam since its launch earlier this month. It has also entered the store’s top five most-played games and is one of its best-selling games. While the Starry team is enjoying its newfound success, it’s looking ahead to an update due in September.
Once Human players can expect a modern PvP gameplay scenario, which the team says will feature a showdown between Mayflies and Rosetta. A PvE scenario is also on the way, promising a modern northern mountain region, monsters, and challenges. No specific release date has been revealed yet.
Once Human was released on July 9 for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the official website, and quickly gained attention from players thanks to its strange art style and grim survival gameplay. When the September update arrives, it will add to its existing mapgiving players even more post-apocalyptic landscapes to explore. Starry released its nightmarish open world just a few weeks ago, but it has already encountered a few obstacles in its path, including cheaters who were quickly banned, named and shamedThe studio also had to overcome server problems appeared due to a successful premiere that exceeded expectations.
A few minor hiccups didn’t stop Once Human from making an impression on PC gamers – and us.
