Xbox has announced a novel Developer_Direct stream on Thursday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. GMT, highlighting some of the biggest games coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox Game Pass in 2025.
The Developer_Direct program will focus on four games from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and one third-party title that Microsoft has been working on. Three of these games are known for one additional secret…
The broadcast will feature the creators themselves, who will present and talk about their games, visiting Compulsion Games to talk about South of Midnight, Sandfall Interactive to watch Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and id Studios to watch Doom: The Dark Eternity. Finally, they will visit a surprise studio to watch a brand novel game.
Doom: The Dark Ages is of course the main act, a prequel to the acclaimed 2016 games Doom and Doom Eternal, where we go back in time to see where the Doom Slayer came from as he wages a more medieval war against Hell.
Meanwhile, South of Midnight comes from the creators of We Happy Few, but it’s a completely different style of game, a third-person action adventure game set in the American Deep South. Playing as Hazel, you will immerse yourself in a flooded world that draws deep inspiration from folklore to discover its hidden past.
A Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a beautiful-looking turn-based RPG from French studio Sandfall in which you lead a team in one last attempt to thwart the Malarka and stop her from annihilating yet another age group by reducing them to dust. Who does she think she is? Thanos?
Microsoft traditionally holds a developer showcase in January to kick off the year and look at the games for the coming year. In January 2024, they revealed the gameplay of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, providing a detailed look at the gameplay of Avowed (which was ultimately postponed to February 2025) and Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga.
