NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB loses to 10% of performance when using PCIe 4.0

Published:

The publication measured 27 titles at 1440p, with the 8 GB card obtaining the average FPS 59.4 with PCIe 5.0 motherboard and slightly lower 55.82 FPS after connecting PCIe 4.0. The 1% low is 47.21 FPS and 43.93 FPS, respectively. It may not seem bad at first, but several selected titles were much worse than the average.

Of all the tested games, eight titles have 5 FPS or more reduction of both medium FPS and 1% minima – almost 9% or more performance drop.

This may not be a problem for high -end enthusiasts, which cost more because they most likely start the latest equipment or can afford them if needed. However, considering that the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB has been designed as a mainstream card, it will most likely be purchased by users launching older motherboard models that may not yet have PCIe 5.0. Of course, they expect better performance when updating this GPU, but if their favorite game is one of the titles affected by the gap in performance, they will be disappointed.

That is why many reviewers no longer recommend graphics cards with 8 GB VRAM or less, especially if you are a player. Because the creators of PC games employ more demanding equipment, GPU players with circumscribed memory will tend to remain behind.

At this price, there may still be a GPU demand, because NVIDIA would probably not create a 8 GB variant if nobody bought it. But if you want to fully employ your money, you should stay away from novel graphics cards with less than 12 GB VRAM.
