Not only the crumbs in the CPU nest: over 100 AMD 9800x3D systems are now reported that POP has gone and the most died on ASROCK motherboards so far

List of crumbs in the nest, see nothing here. So, ASRock said last week in a blog post, which addressed the reports of dead 9000 AMD Ryzen systems in his motherboards. But do they really fly in the context of getting on 100 Ryzen 7 9800x3D processors, which they said that he died in ASRock boards?

Be more detailed On one last count on Reddit98 9800x3DS, which have expired on ASRock motherboards. But before we all jump across ASROCK’s neck, this is not the only motherboard supplier mentioned by Redditors suffering from processor failures.

From the same number 16 9800x3DS went in ASUS boards, five in MSI sockets and a single processor in the Gigabyte position.

All these failures allegedly have 9800x3DS, which started on the board and were functional for at least time. According to another Reddit after tracking the failure“Until now there are 108 stories from people from 9800x3D who have passed the post office and worked for a short time before he suddenly died without signs of failure.”

If you are wondering if the failures are associated with a specific chipset, it seems that they do not. About 45% of the reports include the X870 chipset, about one third for B850, with the B650 and X670 also allegedly recorded many killings.

Some of these reports come from November. So this problem, whatever it is, has been going on for some time. ASRock published BIOS in February to solve problems with the AMD Ryzen 9000 series, and then another with the same Medit last week. At no time, ASROCK did not even suggest that his motherboards could be guilty of dead processors, and the company was clear that BIOS updates did not start so as not to start the actual general processor failure.

Exactly what to do with all this, it’s challenging to say. 9800x3D is an steep processor, but it was also a hit. As we reported in November, it quickly sold out shortly after launching, which led to replacing the chips for 999 USD. So that you do not forget, it is a chip that has a list for USD 479.

So there are almost many of them, as in thousands of thousands. Of course, not every failure will be reported to Reddit.

As for our experience, we have three 9800x3DS in PC Gamer. Our test set based on Master Mobo Gigabyte Aorus runs 9800x3D and was used for all our GPU reviews from the Intel B850 card in December without problems.

Our other two 9800x3DS are found in MSI motherboards and were also not problematic. For now, it is challenging to say exactly how extensive the problem is or what causes it. But there are enough reports now to say that something more extensive is happening than ordinary and inevitable failures that you will see with almost any product.

Similarly, it seems unlikely that all this is caused by a wave of crumbs in the script in Kasztera, which is suggested by ASROCK. As for the division that tilts strongly towards ASRock, this may indicate a special problem with these plates. But this can also reflect the increased popularity of the ASRock platform. Again, the data is currently ambiguous.

We will observe the development of the weather and report if something more significant appears.
