No, you’re not missing out: the latest patch for Helldivers 2 apparently included some changes that weren’t included in Arrowhead’s notes

While the descriptions for the latest Helldivers 2 update are longer than some books, it seems like a few changes have slipped through the cracks and weren’t mentioned enough for various reasons.

As the studio has begun to reveal/hint at some point at some point in the changes to weapons and gear that may be included in the patch that will follow patch 1.001.100 at some point, players on the game’s Discord server have been asking about some changes they feel they’ve found while playing the game after this latest patch went live, which Arrowhead has seemingly failed to mention or properly explain. Well, until now.

“Regarding the frequently asked question about intended changes or “hidden” nerfs in the latest patch, my esteemed colleague and I did some digging and managed to find some more information on the subject,” Arrowhead Community Manager Twinbeard wrote in a recent announcement post on the server, adding that he would be quoting some sections written by the developers.

“As you know, there are a lot of changes in this patch.” The post reads: “This means that the risk of certain hits and misses will inevitably increase. Some of these are things we didn’t mention in the patch notes, some are intentional, some are poorly explained, and one or two things were changed unintentionally. Also, remember that all things in the game are subject to change and are never set in stone. As always, please reach out to us with your thoughts on the matter. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!”

Twinbeard then provided a list of changes, commenting on whether they were intentional on the developer’s part and whether they were included in the 1.001.100 patch notes:

  • Heavy machine gun angle and lasting damage nerfed [from] 50 [to] 35. “It was intentional, but it wasn’t in the revision notes.”
  • Railgun AP bonus removed from reload (no longer increases to AP7 at 90% charge). “This was intentional, and if so, we forgot to add it to the patch notes. The reasoning behind this was so that the Railgun wouldn’t be very good against tanks and Factory Striders. However, the armor on the tank’s front that was changed didn’t interfere with this change. We still didn’t want the Railgun to bounce off the frontal armor, so we might have to check that.”
  • Anti-tank mine damage reduced by 1,000 [to] 800, increased blast radius, increased stagger power by 30 [tp 50, demolition force increased 30 [to] 40. “This was intended, but was missing from the patch notes.”
  • Laser Cannon does not chilly faster, despite it being noted in the patch notes. “It was something we did early on, but then we removed it and just didn’t address it in the patch notes.”
  • Rover the Guard Dog sets targets on fire faster. “Also intended.”
  • Fire damage and sustained damage increased from 25 to 50. “Yes, you guessed it: intentional and not present in the patch notes. We’ll take a look at this to see if it should be kept or not. It also improved Incendiary Breaker and Cookout, which we know are two prized weapons.”
  • Increased Hellpod impact damage by 200 [to] 2,500; does not apply to Firebomb Hellpods. “This is intentional, and is part of the ‘damage scaling’ we mentioned in the patch notes. We didn’t make it very clear, but as we increased the health of heavy enemies, we needed to increase the damage of the Hellpod so it could still kill them.”

Finally, the post ends with the note that “in the case of the Fire Hellpod, we have not increased the damage of this item.”
