No Man’s Sky’s Latest Update Brings New Physics and Bug-Squashing Expedition

Hello Games has received a lot of praise for its care No Man’s Sky; the game has received a ton of updates over the years, adding everything from sandworms to settlements across the galaxy. The latest game update is the large 5.0, and this is the first part of the game world generation update.

One of the biggest attractions No Man’s Sky sets out to find wondrous and strange planets, and the modern update does a lot to make that experience deeper and more compelling. Some worlds have been deformed by gravity distortions, creating floating islands that are great places to build bases. Ocean worlds will now be much prettier, with vigorous wave generation and shiny surface reflections.

None of these additions drastically change the way the game is played. No Man’s Skybut the modern scenery should make exploration more enjoyable. I can imagine getting lost and looking at some of the modern clouds, or watching the modern wind simulation create a sandstorm in the desert world. There are also modern types of flora and fauna, including a strange hybrid animal made up of a complicated network of plant parts.

The update also includes the ability to customize solar ships and a modern bug stomping expedition. Players who participate in the expedition can earn insectoid armor and modern combat upgrades for the Minotaur mech. After playing a ton of Hell Divers 2I’m sure I can join Vanguard Liquidators and go to war with these nasty modern insects. I’m doing my part!

As “Part 1” suggests, we’ll likely see more Worlds updates in the future. No Man’s Sky. Hello Games has put a lot of effort into updating and patching No Man’s Skyand I can’t wait to see how this modern under-the-hood tech impacts my planet-hopping adventures.
