The announcement all you Mario and Zelda fans have been waiting for is finally here… Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo.
Nintendo Switch2? I’ve never heard of it, but I’ve heard of the newly announced Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, a literal alarm clock from the creators of Mario themselves. No, you didn’t just skip a few months to April 1, this is a very real product announced by Nintendo and it’s literally just an alarm clock. Well, maybe that’s a little reductive since it’s obviously an alarm clock made in the Nintendo style. You see, an alarm clock watches you while you sleep, and by that I mean it has motion sensors.
When the alarm goes off at the time you choose, it will play the theme from one of five games, including Super Mario Odyssey, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Ring Fit Adventure and Breath of the Wild (notably not Tears of the Kingdom). . The clock then reacts to your movements, playing various sounds as you sit up and stretch your arms (because how else can you wake up if not in a dead-eyed fugue state) and when it sees that you’re fully out of bed, it finally turns off. To be clear, there is a button mode where you can operate it as a normal alarm clock, which is recommended if you share a bed with someone else.

At the top of each hour it will also charm like a classic grandfather clock, again with different sounds from the above-mentioned games. It can also play ASMR-style sounds to facilitate you fall asleep, and it tracks your movements while you sleep if you want to learn more about yourself. Oh, and you can also connect it to Wi-Fi for free sounds, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing are coming up next.
If you live in the US and subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online, for a confined time you can purchase the service via My Nintendo Store before the general public, which will last until early 2025. Anyone who goes to the Nintendo New York store will also be able to simply buy it there. It costs $100, though, so really think about how badly you want to be that Nintendo person.
