The long-awaited Nintendo museum will finally open to the public soon. The place is filled with decades of Nintendo history, from when the fledgling company was making playing cards in the delayed 1800s to its current, blockbuster Switch console. But perhaps the best part of this museum is the gift shop, which is home to some of the coolest Nintendo merchandise I’ve seen in a long time.
On October 2, after an announcement in 2022, the Nintendo Museum will officially open. Good luck getting in, because tickets are sold out for the next two months. But what really excites me is not going through the long history of a publisher Mario, Zelda, AND Metroid games; I want to go to the game instead shopping spree at the museum gift shop. Watch the game he posted a lot of photos online space and browsing it is crazy. The store features t-shirts, mugs, pens and other items based on every Nintendo console. Yes, even the Virtual Boy!
Have you ever thought to yourself, “I really need a coffee mug with the colors and logo of Nintendo’s failed 3D handheld console, the Virtual Boy” on it? Well, you live a strange life, but you’re in luck, Nintendo can make your (strangely specific) dreams come true. Then there are the Wii U items. Perhaps the coolest things I’ve spotted are the giant pillows modeled after various Nintendo controllers. I can finally sleep on a substantial, fluffy N64 gamepad. I hope some (or most) of these things end up at the Nintendo store in New York, because I’m terrified of how much speculators will charge for an SNES cap.
Here are some of the coolest things we spotted in the store, but check also Watch the game to see even more photos of the entire store offering, including prices for many items, as well as close-ups of smaller items.
