Warner Bros. Discovery has announced a recent Gremlins film scheduled for release in 2027.
During the financial call, David Zaslav, CEO and chairman of Warner Bros. Discovery, said the recent Gremlins movie will premiere on November 19, 2027, with Steven Spielberg serving as an executive producer.
Original Gremlins writer Chris Columbus returns as director and executive producer of this recent entry in the franchise. Plot details and cast information remain a secret.
Gremlins is a much-loved 1984 comedy horror film written by Columbus and starring Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates and Hoyt Axton. It tells the story of Billy Peltzer, who receives Gizmo Mogwai as a pet as a Christmas gift from his father. Once humid, Gizmo gives birth to more Gremlins, which then terrorize the fictional snowy American town of Kingston Falls, Pennsylvania.
Gremlins 2: The New Batch was released in 1990, with Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates reprising their roles, this time with Gremlins wreaking havoc in New York.
And this is the end of the Gremlins film series, and the prequel animated series will be released in 2023. The first season, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, takes place in Shanghai in the 1920s and tells the story of 10-year-old Sam Wing who meets Gizmo. Season 2, Gremlins: The Wild Batch, was released last year.
