Neon Zone is an arcade-inspired, light-flooded race through a digital maze

  • Neon Zone allows players to navigate a fast-paced digital maze
  • Inspired by classic arcade games, it features a synthwave soundtrack
  • Explore 15 free mazes and 35 premium levels

When it comes to the arcade experience – even though older games are notoriously monochromatic – for some reason, neon has become the retro color of the decade. Not that we’re complaining, because the upcoming iOS-exclusive action puzzler Neon Zone isn’t just a metaphorical pretty face.

In Neon Zone, you’ll blast your way through 2D mazes as the appropriately named sci-fi Velosphere. Fight against the clock as you race through 15 free levels and 35 additional premium mazes to complete the challenge. All this is complemented by an original synthwave soundtrack that completes the retro charm.

Oh wait, did we make it sound effortless? Well here’s the twist, you can’t actually see anything in front of you. Yes, Neon Zone is not only a puzzle, it is also a memory game. You have three seconds to memorize the maze, and then you must carefully choose your route to find the exit before time runs out.

The digital frontier

While Neon Zone seems plain on the surface, the added mysterious aspect of memory makes it something truly intriguing, in my opinion. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if some people find the neon-drenched aesthetic and music too cheesy and retro in and of themselves. Neon Zone is scheduled for release on November 1, so if you want to give it a chance, you don’t have to wait long.
