NBA 2K25 First Details Include Cover Stars, Mode Updates, September Release Date

2K has announced the first details about the latest edition of its annual NBA 2K series. NBA 2K25 will feature three distinct athletes on four different covers, depending on the edition you choose. In addition to revealing the cover, 2K also shared the first screenshots and details on the improvements players can expect.

The cover star is Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum. The 26-year-old Tatum is a five-time All-Star, a 2020 Olympic gold medalist, a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team for the 2024 Olympic Games and just won his first NBA championship. Tatum lands in NBA 2K25 Standard Edition.

Meanwhile, those who purchase the NBA 2K25 WNBA Edition will see Las Vegas Aces player A’ja Wilson on the cover. Wilson returns after back-to-back championships with the Aces. She was named Finals MVP in 2023 and is a two-time WNBA MVP and six-time All-Star. Wilson also won a gold medal at the 2020 Olympics and will represent the United States again at the 2024 Olympics. Tatum and Wilson are co-stars in the NBA 2K25 All-Star Edition.

The latest athlete to grace the cover of NBA 2K25 is recent Hall of Fame inductee, eight-time NBA All-Star, and winner of the legendary 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Vince Carter. Carter graces the cover of NBA 2K25 Hall of Fame Edition. All four covers can be seen below.

This year’s entry marks the return of MyCareer mode with fresh updates and recent MyTeam modes. For the next-gen versions on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (for those with compatible specs), players can expect the addition of a sixth era in MyNBA, a more compact and interactive City, and the return of the female-centric mode The W. Crossplay will also be offered in the next-gen versions.
