The art style is still clearly anime-inspired, but the characters are more realistically proportioned than in previous games. The overall effect seems designed specifically to excite guys, and honestly, they know their audience.

All of the systems seem to have been buffed in some way. There’s a recent story campaign with promises of a “more defined antagonist.” The campaign is now playable in both co-op and solo. You can still build things and expand your town, but now you can also recruit and customize NPCs to perform daily tasks around that town. You can befriend and kiss people, but you can also recruit three companions to boss them around.

Our 2019 review of My Time At Portia revealed a game that was ambitious and charming but perhaps stretched its ideas and resources too slender. Meanwhile, our Early Access review of My Time At Sandrock revealed a game that was similarly broad but more polished even in its early stages of development, “an immersive and deliciously detailed life simulator with an endlessly satisfying ‘mine and build’ loop and a set of diverse career paths so richly designed that it’s hard to follow them all.” More of this seems like a tantalizing prospect, then.

Developer Pathea Games says they already have a significant development budget for My Time At Evershine, but as with previous games, they are returning to Kickstarter to assist expand the scope of development. You can sign up here to be notified when crowdfunding goes live.
