MultiVersus Season 2 will add Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice, ranked mode coming next week

Season 2 of MultiVersus: Back in Time will see the addition of Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice, and will launch on July 23, the same time as the long-awaited Ranked Mode.

Samurai Jack will be available when Season 2 premieres on July 23, and Beetlejuice will be available shortly before the premiere of Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice hits theaters on September 6 in North America and September 4 worldwide.

You can check out some gameplay of Samurai Jack below, and Warner Bros. Games has revealed that he will be a Bruiser class character who “uses his mystical katana blade, agile footwork, and quick reflexes to send opponents flying off the map.” The clip also shows off the Righteous Warrior Jack character variant, which will be available for purchase on July 23.

Ranked mode will allow players to compete in 1v1 and 2v2 matches and earn leaderboard points that assist unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards based on rank.

Finally, players will be thrilled to learn that the Water Tower map will also be part of Season 2, and will allow players to battle it out on the iconic Warner Bros. Water Tower, with “surprise nods to popular Warner Bros. Discovery characters and franchises.”

In our review of MultiVersus, we said that “it’s a fun and deep platform brawler, but anything beyond simply jumping into a 1v1 or 2v2 match as each of the eclectic cast of characters (who are connected only by a common corporate overlord) is tedious. I’ll be coming back to experiment with my Iron Giant perk set for team play or learn how to get the most out of Marvin the Martian, but I’d be glued to this game if I had more opportunities to earn memorable skin variants or test my skills in increasingly difficult PvE battles.”
