Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection Underfire due to ‘horrible’ input lag on PS5

Published:

Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection is a unique celebration of the iconic series, but hardcore gamers are starting to complain about the compilation’s input lag on PS5.

To be truthful, while Sony’s console is generally preferred for fighting games, it struggles with above-average input lag across a variety of titles – both up-to-date and retro.

AND tests by input delay expert Nigel Woodall IN Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 reveals that PS5 introduces approximately 108ms of lag. That’s about six or seven frames.

For comparison, the PC version has around 22ms of latency, the Xbox Series X|S has around 51ms, and the Switch 2 version has around 73ms. Therefore, the PS5 version is by far the least responsive, and these tests are apparently consistent across other titles in the collection as well.

Developer Digital Eclipse has already released a patch for PC that it claims fixes some of the audio issues. And now it’s turning its attention to consoles.

It kept writing X (Or Twitter):

“We appreciate all the feedback we have received from MKLK, including audio and latency issues. We are planning a fix that should resolve many issues, while others will require more time. We will have more details next week, but we know we are aware of it and are working on it. Thank you.”

The good news is that other players have managed to dramatically improve input lag on PS5, so we hope Digital Eclipse will dramatically reduce that number in the coming weeks.

Personally, we still recommend this collection overall, as we suspect only the most hardcore gamers will really be bothered by the input lag.

However, there is clearly something to improve and we hope that the developers will quickly solve these problems.
