Mortal Kombat 1 has a fresh patch that finally removes the 30fps cap for cutscenes on PC.
The NetherRealm fighting game was released with a 30 frames per second cap for in-game cutscenes such as Fatalities, despite the gameplay running at 60 frames per second. Developer NetherRealm insisted that this limit allows for more effective cutscenes, but some players say that going from 60 to 30 and back is irritating.
Now in fresh update for Mortal Kombat 1the 30fps cap has been removed along with the addition of a fresh graphics setting that increases the lock to 60fps on PC only, but it’s worth noting that NetherRealm has warned that this setting is intended for PC gamers with high-end hardware.
The patch, also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, introduces a number of character fixes, including the recently released DLC character, Homelander. Patch notes are below.
Also this week, NetherRealm delayed the release of the Kameo Ferry character and announced the release date of the final Kombat Pack 1 DLC character, Takeda. Ferra, the little warrior who sat atop the mighty Torr as part of the combined Ferra and Torr characters from Mortal Kombat
Thoughts now turn to what comes after Mortal Kombat 1’s second year, and NetherRealm has yet to announce future DLC plans. Earlier this month, a prominent Mortal Kombat 1 data scientist discovered evidence suggesting this Ghostface from the Scream series is an upcoming DLC character. It was assumed that Ghostface would be part of the inevitable Kombat Pack 2, but the character’s release may be tied to ongoing issues surrounding the next film in the series, Scream 7.
This was confirmed by NetherRealm’s head of development, Ed Boon Mortal Kombat 1 will finally receive story DLC, followed by a “big surprise”. Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat 2 movie will be released on October 24, 2025.
