Marvel Entertainment has released the latest character reveal trailer for its upcoming team-based shooter, Marvel Rivals.
It was revealed that Moon Knight, the main character of the trailer, is among the 25 playable heroes and villains available in the game at launch. Some of his skills and their usefulness in combat were showcased in a brief trailer.
Moon Knight appears to have a DPS-focused build that is adept at mid-range engagements. Its primary fire does no overall damage, but it does deal knockback that can push enemies off the map for a quick kill. Moon Knight’s other abilities seem useful for dealing burst damage, removing kills on low health enemies, and using his glide and super jump to jump in and out of combat at will.
His ultimate technique is an area attack that opens a portal over an enemy location, dropping powerful fists that dig into the ground, dealing damage along the way. In terms of overall strategy, Moon Knight tries to harass enemies from a distance and then uses his movement options to engage in a favorable position. From there, he can wreak havoc on the rear of the enemy team and escape unscathed.
Moon Knight’s inclusion in Rivals isn’t surprising given the popularity of the TV miniseries about the character starring Oscar Isaac, though Marvel hasn’t said much about the character or the next season since the series aired in 2022.
Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play game and will officially release on December 6 on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Epic Games Store. The game’s entire launch roster of 25 characters is also free and will not require players to unlock them before using them.
