Together 27 monsters released Monster hunter now, some of them are ephemeral spawn locations or require completion of specific story arcs or activity types such as Invasions or Elder Dragon Captures to unlock.

Further complicating matters is the game’s seasonal model, which means that some monsters only appear at certain times of the year or accessing them requires additional seasonal plot complications.

When will novel monsters appear in Monster Hunter Now?

New monsters are introduced to the game, as well as novel story missions and types of weapons under the seasonal model with a major update every quarter.

The latest set of monsters arrived on June 13, 2024 as part of the game’s Summer Update, with the first Elder Dragon confirmed to appear in June. The next monster will be the first Leviathan in the game in July:

How have monsters appeared in the game so far? The first Seasonal Update, “Fulminations in the Frost,” arrived in December 2023 and introduced Radobaan, Banbaro, Barioth, and Zinogre. Then, in March 2024, three novel monsters were added – Odogaron, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, and Devilijho. Then in June 2024, Khezu, Basarios, and the Elder Dragon Kushala Daora were introduced to the game.

In addition to these major updates there are monsters that debut in eventssuch as Black Diablos during “Diablos Invasion” in September 2023 and Pink Rathian during “Rathian and Pink Rathian Week” in October 2023.

These subspecies are more powerful versions of Diablos and Rathian, but since they have their own sets of armor and weapons, they can be considered unique monsters in their own right. Initially, these monsters only appeared for a restricted time, but have since become wild spawns when defeated as part of the seasonal storyline.

We imagine future subspecies will follow a similar pattern – debuting for a restricted time during a mid-season event before spawning with the launch of the novel season a few months later.

For those waiting original monsters who debuted first in Monster hunter now, so far the list consists of creatures that have appeared elsewhere in the series. However, the developers have stated that they “would like to include unique monsters in the game in the future” – so perhaps we can finally expect something.

This is not the first Niantic game to be included in the canon of a wider series – Pokémon Go we have introduced Meltan and Melmetal, for example – and it will be engaging to see what the impact is Monster hunter now over time, he appeared in the main series.
