The creator of Monopoly Go has announced a board game based on the hit mobile game, which in turn is based on the world-famous original board game.
The launch of Monopoly Go on mobile devices has become the most successful game in US history, grossing a staggering $2 billion in just 10 months since its launch last year.
Developer Scopely, the same team behind the Fall Guys-style hit Stumble Guys, has announced a special edition of Monopoly Go for the tabletop, bringing the full circle: a board game based on a mobile game based on a board game.
The Monopoly Go board game costs $19.99 and was released on August 1, 2024. It is a quick-play game inspired by the mobile game; in each round, players roll the dice, and everyone moves around their mini board at the same time. Each quick game lasts about 15 minutes.
There is no money involved. Instead, whenever players land on a color square, they place that matching landmark block on their board. Be the first to line up four matching blocks to win.
You can choose from four double-sided mini game boards featuring real and imagined locations, such as New York, the Roaring ’20s, and Unicorn Land.
