Minecraft is finally getting a native version on PS5


Developer Mojang has revealed that the native version of Minecraft is finally coming to PlayStation 5. It’s currently in testing, but if you own the PlayStation 4 version of the game on PS5, you can take part in the preview now.

While Minecraft has been playable on PS5 for years, it has always been a PS4 version; this native version, however, is a fresh version of Minecraft made specifically for the PS5, which means it will theoretically run better on the console.

“However, currently the only way to play Minecraft on PlayStation 5 is to purchase the PlayStation 4 version of the game,” he added. announcement reads. “By developing a native version of Minecraft for PS5, we will be able to make the game run more efficiently on PS5 hardware.”

While Mojang hasn’t revealed how long the Minecraft PS5 preview will last, anyone can participate as long as they own the PS4 version of the game. To access it, go to “Settings” in the PS4 version of Minecraft while playing on PS5 and select “Preview.” This preview includes the fresh Tricky Trials update, allowing you to venture into trial chambers, meet the wind, craft a mace, and more.

Mojang asks that players who encounter bugs in this preview to report them to the developer and more generally provide any feedback they may have.
