Among the cancellation of video games and studio closures that appeared as a result of the destructive round of Microsoft’s dismissals this week, they are concerned about the fate of almost every Xbox game without the definite release date.
Microsoft Games canceled as part of the cuts is Everwild Rare, unannounced MMO with Zenimax Online Studios, creator of Elder Scrolls Online and Perfect Dark Reboot. The developer of the latter, the initiative, was closed. The team working on the mobile game Blizzard Warcraft Rumble was released due to the cessation of modern content.
Meanwhile, external programmers who were financed by Microsoft also hit. Romero Games, a studio founded by the co -creator of Doom John Romero and Brenda Romero, suffered significant dismissals, and the future of his modern shooter is doubtful.
This is a lot to accept, but the question arises: Which Xbox Game Studios games remain? And which, if at all, were quietly canceled?
In a note sent to all Microsoft Games employees and viewed by IG this week, Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studios, said that Microsoft still has “over 40 projects in active development, he continued to drive in shipping the titles this fall, and the strong board was 2026.”
In addition, the source said Diversity The fact that every game appearing at the Xbox Games Showcase presentation is continued in June. So what were the games that, as we assume, are protected – at least for now?
Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was at the exhibition and it will certainly come out this year (despite releases hitting various programmers). Inxile’s revolution played at the exhibition, so it’s protected. Uzedzenia 2 and Worlds Outer 2 were at the exhibition and we should assume that both are protected. This is a similar offer for the Double Fine guardian, the Gears of War: Reloaded, Ninja Gaiden 4 and Indiana Jones and the Giants DLC Order in Giants. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 and ROG Xbox Ally, both at the exhibition, will also be continued. Despite the cancellation of Everwild, Sea of Thieves Rare is continued with modern updates.
At the end of the presentation, the head of Xbox Phil Spencer irritated forza, Fable, Gears of War: E-E-E-E-Day and Halo: Combat Evolded Remake in 2026. We assume that because these games have been mentioned, they are protected, although it is worth noting that Forza mentioned by Spencer undoubtedly refers to the next game of Forza Horizon from playing Playground, which is also Fabelna. Turn 10, which makes Forze more targeted at SIM matches were firmly hit by layoffs.
So we know which Microsoft games are still going to release. But taking into account the events of this week, now you can’t think about other Xbox games in works without some anxiety. Everwild and Perfect Dark were perceptible because of their absence at the show last month and both were canceled. What has not yet appeared?
Minecraft – Remember that Microsoft is the owner of Minecraft! – You feel huge and protected as houses. But what about the Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios? Where is the State of Decay 3 Labs 3 Labs? Ninja Mara theory project? Microsoft has hideo Kojima, from, in its books. Is this still happening? Toys for Bob, the Crash Bandicot 4 and Call of Duty Support Studio developer, which left Activision belonging to the Xbox in February 2024, signed a contract with Xbox directly to publish the next game. Is it still alive?
What about Bethesda? MMO ZOS fell aside, but certainly Elder Scrolls VI Studios Bethesda Game Studios and the next precipitation are fine. The promised another Starfield extension seems uncertain, considering the Bethesda silence radio in the game. What about Blizzard? Since last year, he reportedly worked challenging on the Starcraft shooter. Is it still?
Only when you run therefore was not At the Xbox Games Showcase last month you realize what he was about here: Microsoft is the owner of a huge number of development studies around the world, from Bethesd to Blizzard and Activision to Halo. When Xbox has significant problems, a huge swath of the video game industry and its programmers.
All eyes are in the August Gamescom, where Microsoft has to show more of what will fall. Perhaps Phil Spencer will give fans a clear idea of what is in Xbox works, and what is not, as multi -functional Microsoft soldiers were included. I still plan to release a modern generation Xbox console, although we don’t know when. Is it still lived last year and Handheld Xbox Handheld Spencer? Does Microsoft still plan to spend its own game store, despite the failure Call of duty brewed mobileWarcraft Rumble and significant cuts this week for Candy Crush Maker King?
At least in the compact period of the game we saw in June, they are still on the road. But the long -term future of Xbox remains unclear.
