Metal Slug Tactics already has a release date, November 5. Dotemu confirmed the news with a brand recent trailer, which also revealed three more playable characters. These characters include the Ikari Warriors, Clark Still, Ralf Jones, and Leona Heidern. Below you can watch the recent Metal Slug Tactics trailer, which shows the characters in action.
We had to wait a while for Metal Slug Tactics, which was first presented in 2021. In 2022, developer Leikir Studio was acquired by Focus Home Interactive. Later in 2022, more news emerged that Metal Slug Tactics would be pushed back to 2023. Of course, the game wasn’t released this year either, but at least it would be out before the end of the year.
Descriptions of the recent characters were also released alongside the trailer, giving you an idea of each character’s playstyle:
- Clark Nadal: Originally from the Ikari Warriors series and previously playable in Metal Slug 6, Clark’s immense strength and wrestling experience allow this tank-like ally to move enemies around the map and deal long-range status-affecting damage.
- Ralph Jones: Also returning to battle from the Ikari Warriors and Metal Slug 6 series, Ralf is a master of close quarters combat, with devastating blows and the ability to charge at enemies like a raging bull.
- Leona Heidern: Leona, a newer addition to the Ikari Warriors, is a respected warrior capable of replacing fallen enemies with decoy allies; can distract and overwhelm enemy forces with its distinct approach to combat zone dominance.
As the name suggests, Metal Slug Tactics takes a bold recent direction. It may feature the same characters, graphics and images from SNK arcade classics, albeit from a recent perspective. Here at TheSixthAxis, we’re suckers for turn-based tactical RPGs, and beyond the Metal Slug name, we want to see the customization environment and roguelike elements that will be available when Tactics launches on November 5 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch.
