For each of the Freegunners in Concord, our team focused on a holistic approach to development, working across disciplines—from gameplay design to narrative, art, and beyond—to ensure they aren’t just fun and engaging to play, but are experienced as fully formed characters. From their core gameplay to the movement and performance of our cast, every detail is designed to feel like an extension of their personalities, backstories, and journeys through the Concord galaxy.
This past weekend, during the Open Beta and the Early Access Beta earlier this month, you had the opportunity to get your first look at a tiny part of the game and each of our characters.
As we look towards August’s launch, we’re excited to introduce our starting lineup of 16 playable Freegunners, including a confined animated series called Concord: Freegunner Adventures. The first episode of Concord Freegunner Adventures: Crew First drops today, featuring Teo, Jabali, and It-Z taking on a risky job and taking on a rival crew:
In the coming days and weeks, we will also be releasing modern gameplay trailers for each Freegunner in the starting lineup, giving you a deeper look at their abilities and loadouts. Each episode of Concord Freegunner Adventures and gameplay trailer will be released official PlayStation YouTube channel.
Introducing the DualSense Wireless Controller – Concord Limited Edition
Additionally, we were excited to work with PlayStation to develop a special Concord-themed PlayStation 5 DualSense controller featuring a custom design inspired by the vivid and colorful Concord universe. The design draws inspiration and visuals from our vision of faster-than-light travel and the Galactic Guide—an extensive in-game map of the Concord galaxy and its worlds that expands and unlocks modern narrative content as you play and progress.
The DualSense Wireless Controller – Concord Limited Edition will be available for pre-order in the U.S. on Thursday, July 25 at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET on direct.playstation.com. It will be available in confined quantities only in the U.S. for $84.99 and will release on August 23, the day after the Concord launches.*
*DualSense wireless controller and Concord game sold separately.
