Last week, Insomniac confirmed that no recent story content would be coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but (some) fans will likely still be cheerful with the recent update.
Much to the dismay of many Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans, when Insomniac and Sony announced last week that the game would be coming to PC in 2025, there was also some information that no additional story content was planned for it. “While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we are thrilled to bring all of our previously released content to the PC version post-launch,” he says. blog post explained. This, of course, completely confirmed that there would be no DLC, despite speculation and fan hopes that more would be coming to the game. There was even an update that seemingly accidentally showed snippets of potential unreleased content, but apparently somewhere along the way the decision was made not to release it.

But at least game update has been released, it should make it look much more impressive… provided you’re playing on the upcoming PS5 Pro console. From now on, the default game mode on PS5 Pro will be Performance Pro, which aims for 60 frames per second while “maintaining the image quality of standard Fidelity mode by taking advantage of PlayStation Spectral Super resolution” or, you know, pisser, I mean PSSR. Ray tracing features are available in this mode, and Insomniac says it’s the recommended mode.

There’s also a recent Fidelity Pro mode that only hits 30 frames per second, allowing you to “experiment with new ray-traced graphics features.” These include several toggles such as ray tracing for key lithe shadows, reflections and interiors, and ambient occlusion, which can be turned on and off at any time.
A similar update was also released for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, so if you’re planning to buy a PS5 Pro, you’ll have at least a few Insomniac games to look forward to replaying with a slightly improved look.
