Scopely and Marvel have teamed up to bring us… Monopoly Go Marvel crossover event, uniting moguls and superhero fans for the first time in a casual mobile title. Scopely is already working with Marvel Games on Marvel Strike Force, but the two mobile games have little in common.
In an interview with DiversityScopely senior vice president of publishing Eric Wood points out that Marvel games and crossovers typically fall into the RPG, action and card battle genres, but that’s how the Monopoly Go team got Marvel Games on board. He said the crossover is “very different from what you’ve already seen in the gaming space from the brand and where and when it appears.”
Following the Monopoly Go story, recurring character Dr. Lizzie Bell accidentally opens a portal to the Marvel Universe, leading to iconic characters such as the Avengers, Spider-Man and the X-Men passing through to compete on the board. Monopoly Go CEO Massimo Maietti points out that with the multitude of in-game events and mini-games, “we believe we can cover this expansive tapestry of the Marvel universe as it intersects with the Monopoly universe, and also delve into some specific stories or fun moments or hidden character details.”
When will the Monopoly Go Marvel crossover take place?
The Marvel Monopoly Go event starts on September 26, 2024. The event runs until December 5, 2024, so there’s plenty of time to roll the dice and get involved.
