Mafia: The Old Country trailer leak reveals summer 2025 release window

Published:

A novel trailer for Mafia: The Old Country has been leaked along with a summer 2025 release date, ahead of its presentation at The Game Awards later on December 12.

X/Twitter user @DJari2020 posted a tiny snippet of the trailer below, which apparently appeared as an advertisement on YouTube. Offering a first look at the gameplay, characters and narrative of Mafia: The Old Country, which promises to be a brutal mafia story set in 20th century Sicily.

The trailer ends with a vague release window of summer 2025, but it’s still a bit clearer than the previously announced overall release date of 2025. That potentially pushes closer to GTA 6’s fall 2025 release window if Rockstar’s game can withstand the delay in 2026 r. Mafia: The Old Country was unveiled at Gamescom in August with a tiny trailer that confirmed this setting, but little else.

“Discover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a brutal Mafia story set in the brutal underworld of 20th century Sicily,” reads the official synopsis. “Fight for survival in this dangerous and ruthless era, with the action brought to life with the authentic realism and rich storytelling for which the critically acclaimed Mafia series is renowned.”

The series, which debuted over two decades ago with 2002’s Mafia, continued slowly but surely, releasing a sequel in 2010 and a third game in 2016, although it has been silent since then. However, given the long gaps between releases, Mafia: The Old Country is virtually on schedule.

The Game Awards starts at 4.30pm Pacific / 7.30pm Eastern / 12.30pm UK and is expected to last around three hours. The IGN pre-show starts 30 minutes earlier and will be followed by a post-show, both of which and the show itself will be available to watch on the IGN home page, IGN-YouTube, IGN Twitchand more.
