As an Italian American, I have some preferences for the mafia’s stories. Sopranos, godfather, Goodfellas– I had a taste for them. But somehow I avoided Mafia Games throughout life, so far.
Mafia: The Old Country This is my first franchise game, and if there is something that can go, I should soon dive in the rest. This game is a lovely game through something that seems to be a classic scenario of the crowd, with a unique surroundings, excellent performances and a tight pace, which was joy.
It’s about respect …
Mafia: TOC This is a stunning linear game, especially for 2025. The history of the third person’s history, only for single players is brisk, feeling like an adventure in madness in every turbulent chapter, but finally I found its length. I finished the game in less than 12 hours, and the story was a crime and corruption, as you might expect, but also about love and family.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Sicily, you play as Enzo Favara, a boy sold to a sulfur mine at a newborn age, who during his adult life is involved in the Torrisi family. The history of the game seems to be able to break it out of the crowd decades ago, but the period and setting distinguish it, offering a really unique weapon, vehicles and locations.
Working for Don Torrisi and his sometimes stereotypes, Enzo climbs through the ranks of the organization, doing grubby family work and entering himself as a man who began with nothing and becomes a man of respect.
And when it comes to respect, unlike many disterested games with an open world nowadays, Mafia: TOC He respects his time as a player (it even allows you to ignore long driving segments if you want), properly wrapping in the finally satisfactory end of the story. As long as he has to tell an engaging story.
You can recreate the chapters at any time and visit the locations in the world -like world environment again, if you decide to do it, but I was elated with the game and ready to go when I finish it. The opening of the world map in the game was refreshing and not see hundreds of icons and goals.
… but it’s also about loyalty

Mafia: Toc’s The game segments are sorted in several different styles, including the fight against weapons, one -on -one knife fights, riding, horse riding and hiding. None of these components is spectacular alone, but their various pace in the events of the game creates a very solid package in which nothing feels out of place or at a given moment.
The boss fights of the knife are amusing, but a bit too straightforward for my preferences, although I played on a normal difficulty. You can attack, evaporate, avoid and break the fire of the enemy, but everything is quite telegraph and straightforward to do.
Where the game really shines, there are its characters and actors for them in the history they tell. Everyone talks to an Italian accent, often moving Sicilian slang, that you will googo translations (now I know how to say Cocksucker and several other curses). In the past, he recalls memories of classic crowds and it’s a good time.
The game is 50 USD for the basic edition, which in my opinion is fair. You are on a ride in the classic history of the mafia, playing and developing as an enzo, and after the story you can finish it, finding various collections around the Sicilian village and cities or moving to something else.

After completing Mafia: TOCI will remember it tenderly as a solid experience from the Solo game and I regret that we could not have more games of the same. He does not waste time bloating from the open world, tells a fascinating story and gives the option to be complete if you choose it.
