Listen to the main theme of Dragon Age: The Veilguard by legendary composer Hans Zimmer

Hans Zimmer dropped the hottest single of the fall (in some very diminutive circles), revealing the main theme Dragon Age: Guardian of the Veil on his official YouTube channel Yesterday. Today, the song can be streamed on “all major music services,” according to a press release from BioWare, which confirms that Zimmer composed the entire album. The main theme itself is moving, ominous and repetitive (it appears to be menu music). However, as the featured track shows, its melody is elastic enough to remain distinct even with changes in instrumentation and major and minor keys, which is a must to tug at the player’s heartstrings at key moments. That honor would go to a spooky hidden track Excerpts from Dragon Age from the video game soundtracka set of four vinyl records containing music from the Dragon Age games, which BioWare released in May this year. Hidden at the end of the disc with music composed for the DLC Dragon Age: Origins AND Dragon Age: Inquisition Is “Read the Code”, a fast-paced, atmospheric soundscape attributed to Zimmer and Balfe. D’read Koda probably means something in one of the Dragon Age fantasy languages, but it could very well be a play on words related to “Dreadwolf” (name Curtain cover was passing at the time) and “coda” (a musical term basically meaning a passage at the end).

According to BioWare’s press release, fans will be able to pre-order the official version Curtain cover soundtrack from October 18 on iTunes and Amazon Music. The album will be released on November 1, one day after its October 31 release Dragon Age: Guardian of the Veil myself.
