Like A Dragon/Yakuza developer RGG Studio has booked their RGG Summit for September 20th, the same date as last year’s Fall RGG Summit, and it seems that it will be revealed. Naturally, fans have been quick to speculate/wish for things they would like to see from the studio.
The summit date seems engaging since RGG staff, including studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama, previously said during a livestream in July that their next game would be presented at this year’s Tokyo Game Showwhich is scheduled to take place from September 26 to 29. Yes, that’s a week after that summit.

Naturally, this has caused some confusion among fans as to how RGG will handle this recent game announcement that it has been hinting at, given that these dates simply preclude Summit from being used to expand on any major TGS announcement, such as by providing more details or showing a trailer. So the question remains as to what the studio has in store, but it seems like an odd choice to schedule Summit the week before if RGG was holding off on a massive reveal, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the initial announcement of the next game could come at Summit, with more details coming at TGS.
Last year RGG Summit September 20 was finally quite a sensation, as the exact release date of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth was revealed, as well as several trailers for the game, and the beginning of Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name was also shown.
RGG just announced a Yakuza Kiwami port for the Nintendo Switch for October, and it also has a Prime Video Like a Dragon: Yakuza TV series coming out the same month. SEGA also sparked some rumors earlier this month by trademarking the “Yakuza Wars” trademark.
Naturally though, fans of the developer social media hopes Summit will showcase some fresh revelations, some will yearn for a recent Judgment game, a full remake of Yakuza 3 by Kiwami, and even a remaster of the Yakuza: Dead Souls spin-off. Oh, and there are people begging for a Gaiden title starring Goro Majima, because of course it will. Honestly, that sounds pretty damn frosty to me.
All you have to do is tune in to the Summit broadcast, which will air at 7pm EST. 11:00 UK time/6:00 EST/3:00 PST Tune in on September 20 to find out. What are you looking forward to? Let us know below!
