Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers, the anime adaptation of the popular fighting game, finally has a release date.
Are you more heaven or hell? As long as you’re one or the other, chances are you’re a fan of Guilty Gear, and if that’s you, you’ll be content to hear that the anime adaptation of the long-running fighting game series is finally getting a release date: April 2025. Arc System Works has released a modern trailer showcasing the anime, which in is basically just a 3D Strive style turned into a full-fledged TV show, and also confirmed that Crunchyroll will be coming. While the trailer itself only talks about April as the release window, the file official website of the program notes that it will air from April 5. Whether this means it will be simulcast on Crunchyroll, I can’t tell you, but I’m sure more details will be confirmed in the future.
The trailer also showed off a whole bunch of returning cast members, including series main characters Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske, as well as others like Bridget, Baiken, Dizzy, Jack-O’, Johnny, Leo, Elphelt, and Ramlethal. There’s also a brand modern character, Unika, whose addition is still a bit of a mystery (but will likely appear as a playable character in Strive this year as well).

The official website describes the story: After the collapse of the once growing fields of science and technology, a modern energy source called magic powers the up-to-date era. Humanity creates a banned biological weapon: Gears. These Gears ultimately oppose humanity in rebellion. Although they manage to win in the fight for survival called the Crusades, the losses of humanity are so great that even after several decades their emotional wounds cannot fully heal. Sin Kiske, the child of a human and a Gear, goes to the wedding ceremony of his father Ky and mother Dizzy. Their wedding breaks the ultimate taboo: the relationship between a human and a Gear.
“Even when there was peace in the world, it took many years for such a ceremony to take place. Despite the sophisticated range of emotions that accompany it, the wedding ceremony is met with blessings. When suddenly a mysterious girl appears… The destined child inherits the Gear Blood and a mysterious girl who despises the Gears. Their meeting shocked the world.
Yes, it sounds like a lot, but when was the Guilty Gear series truly anything other than itself?
