Lenovo Yoga 7 with AMD processor at an all-time low of $599 – Ryzen 7 8840HS convertible laptop is $300 off

The Lenovo Yoga 7 14AHP9 laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS APU, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD is currently available for $300 off or $599.99 at Best Buy. This is the lowest price level ever, but it has been on sale at this price several times over the past year.

The price alone is likely compelling for fans of the Lenovo Yoga convertible form factor, which allows the device to be used as a touchscreen tablet, a standard laptop, or even a free-standing tablet/screen for purely visual purposes. However, the Ryzen 7 8840HS is no haphazard APU and can prove to be a competent entry-level gaming player if you’re willing to make the right hardware compromises.

The specific Lenovo Yoga 7 14AHP9 model that is on sale is mostly the maximum configuration. 16 GB of DDR5-6400 RAM, a 1 TB NVMe Gen 4 drive and a Ryzen 7 8840HS APU with an integrated Radeon 780M iGPU indicate the highest level of available configurations. Unfortunately, this model on sale doesn’t come with a 500-nit OLED display – instead, this discounted model ships with a 400-nit IPS panel. This should still look reasonably good, but existing reviews indicate that the OLED model at least looks that way look much better. However, this one is more steep and (at the time of writing) a lot it’s more complicated to find current offers.

In any case, the overall computing experience on offer here should be quite good. The Lenovo Yoga Convertible Case has already been well reviewed and is truly perfect for those who want to maximize the portability of their laptop. The Ryzen 7 8840HS has eight Zen 4 CPU cores and 16 threads, running at a maximum boost clock of 5.1 GHz. Add in the powerful Radeon 780M iGPU (also available in top-end, last-gen gaming handhelds like the Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme Edition) and you’ve got a workhorse with more than enough power for most productivity needs.

If you plan on gaming on this device, I recommend using resolution scaling or FSR if possible when playing newfangled 3D games. The iGPU is more geared towards native 720p/800p rendering rather than this laptop’s full 1920×1200 resolution. Smart resolution scaling and reduced graphics settings should also make this a perfectly adequate gaming laptop, provided you prioritize playability over pretty graphics.
