About a year after its debut, LEGO Fortnite is receiving its biggest update yet, featuring a major update to the existing game (now renamed LEGO Fortnite Odyssey) and an all-new social RPG, LEGO Fortnite Brick Life. Both will be available in the regular Fortnite client later this week on December 12, and LEGO Fortnite will now be a indefinite, unique category for all modes and content created within the game.
Let’s start with Lego Fortnite Odyssey and the fresh game update called Storm Chasers. The Storm King has launched a quest to consume the entire world, and it’s up to you and your friends to find the Storm Hunter Village, make fresh friends, and gain the strength to stop him.
The Stormchaser Village is a fresh hub where you’ll find plenty of Stormchaser characters to meet and take part in missions. These will take you to the Storm, where you’ll look for Storm Dungeons to tackle – these are regenerated and randomized every 24 hours.
There are several fresh gameplay mechanics and changes to progression and component-based crafting that will have you scavenging for higher rarity resources. Enemy difficulty leveled across biomes to improve game balance. LEGO Fortnite Odyssey is compatible with split screen on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
However, Lego Fortnite Brick Life is something completely fresh. Have you ever wanted to live in Lego City? Because now you can, hop on servers with 31 other players and hang out at restaurants, parties and clubs in something that’s more like the social side of GTA Online.
You will have your own home to decorate, but to achieve all this you will need to find a job that includes:
- Courier – Deliver parcels to other Brick Bay residents!
- Academy Professor – Share your knowledge with your class at Moundale Academy.
- Security Officer – Make sure crime doesn’t pay.
- Rogue – Play pranks on other townsfolk.
- Sushi Chef – serve the tastiest fish in Brick Bay!
- Bobom Milk Tea Bobarista – serve the most refreshing drink in Brick Bay.
- Fortune teller – what future awaits you? New furniture!
You can change careers whenever you want.
With cash in your account, you can buy and then arrange your own home on one of several empty plots in the city, both in the suburbs and in the city center. Just open your phone and exploit the furniture catalog to personalize it, or visit a furniture store for more custom pieces. If you have any decoration sets and structures from the wider Lego Fortnite version, you can exploit them as well.
You can visit locations such as the market, beach, Durrr Burger and Mourndale Academy to meet other players. The Rooftop Club will open on December 18 with an in-game event. Importantly, there are standard chat restrictions in Fortnite that allow you to maintain control over interactions, which can take place via text chat or through the exploit of emotes and jam tracks.
This sounds really captivating – finding another fresh direction to push Fortnite in, and in the process bringing back the atmosphere of social gaming from the early 2000s.
