Although better known for creating one of the best game keyboards, Keychron is constantly moving up the master with mice, such as the excellent vertical M5 or Lemokey G1 game -oriented. Over the past few weeks I have been strenuous to exploit the 8K wireless election speed version, and this is another model that should facilitate to strengthen the company name in the world of mouse gaming.
Not wanting to sound dismissively, the M7 project is very classic – some can even say uninteresting – but there is no need to come up with a wheel with mice, because they are so long that it is very clear for designers what works and what does not. Having said this, there are several aspects of the M7 that suggest that Kechron has not paid enough attention to historical books.
The overall shape is asymmetrical (so it is only right -handed, I’m afraid) with a significant thumb for those who do not like to keep mice with a claw. The downside of having such a gigantic rest is that the base is quite wide, which generates a bit more resistance than you can expect from mice for games.
Compared to something like Razer Viper V3 Pro, the M7 profile is relatively flat, rising gradually from the back of the mouse. The main buttons are approaching the bottom, but nowhere is the same as Razer. Its 63-gram weight is by no means bulky, but the Keychron M7 seems too massive and bulky in the case of competitive e-sport.

However, this is completely normal in the world of gaming mice. What is great for one player can be terrible for someone else, which is why the market is so diverse. Kechron M7 feels comfortable for many hours and although this is not my preferred mouse shape, I would not complain if I was forced to exploit it until the end of the time.
In fact, this is not true because there are three things that I complained about from the first day of using M7. First of all, the finish of ABS plastics used for the shell attracts fat and dirt very quickly. So much that it is impossible to make it flawless.
It seems that this is a common problem with many peripherals for games at the moment, with keyboards, mice and controllers that exploit the finish, which looks great in the pictures and outside the box, but ultimately they look definitely second -hand within a few days of exploit.
Secondly, I am disappointed with an additional thumb button. The Keychron M7 has ordinary side buttons and are nicely placed, simple to achieve when you need them, but not so close that you accidentally eat in games.
However, an additional thumb button (which is down the default) is so far forward that I can’t reach it with my normal hand position. For players with smaller than medium hands it would be like an attempt to poke the surface of the moon. Only by raising my hand and then I can activate it forward.
I suppose this is one of the reasons why Keychron designed M7 so that he has such a gigantic rest thumb, because after some time he will certainly get tired of trying to reach the button.
It is a real shame, because it is very simple to configure any button using the Keychron online software. For example, after it is suffered by bringing home again.
My last problem concerns the speed and accuracy of M7 as gaming mice. Outside the box, it’s okay, but checking things by Mouse tester It shows that you need to have the right combination of DPI setting and the vote coefficient to make the most of the mouse.
The first three charts in the gallery below show the tracking accuracy and wireless delay with the DPI set at 800 and a survey rate up to 1000 Hz. In addition to sloppy results, the general delay smoothness and tracking accuracy are very good.
However, as DPI increased, it increased to 3200, but the flow rate remained at 1000 Hz, tracking begins to lose accuracy. And although the input delays become more consistent, they also grow. The last three charts show what happens when the voting speed is raised to 8000 Hz with a DPI of 3200 – the accuracy is now better, although the input delay is not improved.
After about a week of discovering everything, I decided on DPI 1600 and an election rate of 2000 Hz. Of course, it is possible to exploit 4 or 8 kHz, but both eat the life of the mouse battery. Keychron claims that the performance of 70 hours at 1000 Hz and this is certainly true, but you will receive less than half of this number when using the 8000 Hz survey.
Buy if …
✅ You want high specification mice without a high price: At 70 USD Keychron M7 8K significantly cuts the competition, and you get a lot of mice for money.
Don’t buy if …
❌ You want mice for only E -Sport: Unless you have gigantic hands, the mouse will feel quite bulky due to the wide base and relatively flat profile, thanks to which a quick throw around.
In the great scheme, these are relatively petite problems. The escape to the lubrication of plastic is not exclusive to the keys; The location of an additional thumb button does not prevent a useful mouse. And if you are an avid PC player, I’m sure you won’t mind delving into the software to adjust the mouse.
The fact that the Keychron M7 8K wireless mice costs only 70 USD (the standard version of 1K is USD 50), when such a gigantic part of the competition is much more exorbitant, it is a long way to record the impact of these problems.
You get connectivity of 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth, which is simple to switch, like DPI and the speed of surveys, thanks to the control collection in the mouse database. In the LED set above each of them clearly shows what setting you exploit, and other manufacturers should pay attention to Keychron’s efforts in this area.
This is not my idea for a perfect game mouse because of its shape, but I have no doubt that the Kechron M7 will be perfect for many players, although maybe not those with petite hands. Just spend some time on configuration and you’ll be ready.
