This Drake has filed an official defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), accusing the company of spreading a false narrative that he was a pedophile via the now legendary Kendrick Lamar diss track:Not like us” irritated many in the hip-hop community.
But a group of people whose names are mentioned at the back of the complaint are particularly irate. On pages 52 and 53 long suitThe Toronto rapper’s lawyers are naming several content creators and alleging that UMG allowed those personalities to monetize reactions to Lamar’s diss track without enforcing copyright claims.
Drake believes this helped spread false claims that he was a child predator, and is an example of the company putting money ahead of 6-God’s reputation.
The content creators involved in the lawsuit are among the most popular on the Internet. include Kai CenatNoLifeShaq, RDC Gaming, Cartier Family and Zias.
Their reactions to Lamar’s diss track have garnered millions of views, with the lowest number of views being 2 million (Cartier Family) and the highest being 9 million (Kai Cenat).
Content creators’ reactions
Naturally, the creators mentioned (and many others) are unhappy with Drizzy and have criticized him on social media and other online platforms.
The loudest may have been No Life Shaq, who posted a 10-minute YouTube video titled “DRAKE GOT AN INFECT ON ME!”
In the video he says: “That nigga Drake informed on the reactionary community! Nigga, we’re chilling, having fun, and you put us on the case? That must be the gentlest nigga in the world, dog.
RDC Gaming responded during the broadcast simply saying, “One thing I’ve learned in life is this, dude… The biggest ‘L’ comes from not knowing how to take the ‘L’. Some niggas just take the L and move on.
Zias probably had the most explosive reaction when he found out he was named in the lawsuit, even jokingly calling his lawyer live to let him know he was filing a counterclaim against Drake.
Please remember that these are just the reactions of the people named in the lawsuit. Several other content creators who reacted to “Not Like Us” (and Drake’s diss tracks) shared similar sentiments and continued to criticize the Toronto rapper for his decision to name content creators in his lawsuit.
Reaction from social media
Frustrated hip-hop fans on X pointed out that Drake only listed black streamers who responded to “Not Like Us,” not white ones.
One user wrote“Hang in there, LOL. I just realized that Drake reported black streamers who reacted to his video and not white streamers lol.”
Added by another user“Drake listed all the black streamers in his case and now he is in the lottery with Adin Ross.”
This only adds to the long list of reasons why Drake should not have taken legal action, and in real time we see the consequences of his actions, flashing back to almost a year ago when he pleaded with Lamar to “drop, drop, drop, dropP.”
