Smoove shared a statement about how High on Life will film its scene in the animated version:

“When Squanch Games originally approached JB Smoove (I like to refer to myself in third person) about voicing a character in their awesome video game High on Life, my first question was what would my character look like? They told me I would be a shooting fish… which makes sense to me! As a vegan, I believe a fish should have the right to defend itself! Of course?! And now that I’m partnering with Squanch Games and Striker Entertainment to bring the hilarious High on Life to the franchise, it seems like it was inevitable!”

High on Life is a crazy, weird and wonderful show and this one will be just as good and better!

Smoove continued, “They invited me to join them in the gaming world, and now I’m helping them transition into the TV world! It’s a case of game recognizing game! High on Life is wild, weird and wonderful, and the show will be just as good and better! Get ready to laugh in space with unforgettable characters like me! We’re armed and ready to go!”

Alternate Side is serving as an executive producer alongside Striker Entertainment’s Russell Binder and Mandy Bardisbanian. Squanch is also attached to develop the animated series, as well as the original game’s narrative director, Alec Robbins.

High on Life is set to release on PC and Xbox in delayed 2022, with PlayStation coming in July 2023. The DLC story content, titled High on the Knifeand then in October. The animated series does not have a premiere date and there has been no official confirmation on who will be joining the cast. However, the game is known for its roster of talent, which includes notable appearances from stars like Tim Robinson, Michael Cusack, Mike Stoklasa, Zach Hadel, Tom Kenny, Nolan North, and many more.

High On Life started two years ago as a video game and in our 8/10 reviewsexplained why we loved the “cringe-worthy” story he told.
