Nearly three years after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland has finally confirmed that filming on the fourth film will begin next year.
There was a lot of uncertainty about Spider-Man 4, first about whether it would even happen, then we knew it was happening but Holland remained cautious, and then they were still looking for a director for Destin Daniel Cretton’s Shang-Chi. With this in mind, it seems that uncertainty is no longer necessary as it would be during a performance The Tonight Show starring Jimmy FallonHolland was asked by the titular host about a possible fourth film. “There’s a rumor going around that Spider-Man 4 is being made and that you’ll be back as Spider-Man,” Fallon said, earning a sly smile from the actor, and Holland asked, “What do you want to know?”

Fallon goes on to ask, “Can we confirm this tonight?” which received a clear and uncomplicated “this is happening” from the Netherlands. “Next summer we start shooting, everything is ready. We’re almost there, it’s really electrifying. Can’t wait”. This is obviously good news for those of you who have been desperately waiting for some sort of official update, but if you’re looking for plot details, I’m afraid you’re out of luck. There have been a few rumors here and there, and it’s clear that with No Way Home ending the way it did, and how long it took to develop this installment, there was some hesitation about moving forward, but if the film is ready next summer apparently the idea was more or less already there.
