The heat wave cooks most of the United States this week, bringing high temperatures to millions of people from the middle west to the Central Atlantic and northeast, and hints Health warnings in many states. Because record temperatures affect North America and Europe this summer-it can be the second most complex summer in records-remember about playing Switch 2 (as well as steam deck or other hand-prefereed manual) in the heat.
A reminder, during the sizzling summer of 2022, Nintendo from Japan warned customers that the original switch was best used at ambient temperatures from 5 to 35 degrees Celsius (or 41 degrees to 95 degrees Fahrenheit). Because temperatures escalate above 95 f in many US states and abroad, it is worth noting that Nintendo tips on Switch 2 seem identical.
About the company Japanese support websiteNintendo warns that “if the surrounding temperature is high, the temperature of the main unit may also increase. Use the device in place from 5 to 35 C.” Nintendo warns on another support page, which, if switch 2 becomes too sizzling, has an automatic sleep function that closes the system to prevent it from hotter.
This can happen “if exhaust or inlet ventilation on the main unit is blocked or if the device is used in a place where heat tends to accumulate”, as say in the northern hemisphere.
Polygon contacted the Nintendo of America for updated tips on Switch 2 resistance in warmer months and update this story when the company reacts.
Ultimately, your switch 2 will probably be fine, even in Excessive heat. But if for some reason you go to a sticky, radiant outside world with the Nintendo console in your hand, pay attention to the system temperature and watch out for overheating.
